carb BST33 and BSR34
Hello, i have my GS from year 2004 with carb BSR34(25kw), bought in Germany. I want change it with older carb BST33 from 33kw GS version.
Is it posible or not? Or tell me how to get full power(33kw) from my bike? |
wrong sub-forum.
It is possible, but as far as I know the newer carbs got some electronic (because of exhaust fumes maybe ??). You can try to just let the cable that used to go to the carb be. |

I read that for the 2004 model you only have to close the holes in the pistons of the carb
http://mitglied.lycos.de/storag3/Mot...PistonHole.jpg don't know if this is also right for your bike.. so have a look into the carb :P |
You also have to change the main jets!
For 33kW you need a main jet size 130 instead of 135. edit: You have to change the piston valves (without the 2 balance-holes or close these holes with a gasoline-resistant glue) #5 and the main jets #27 http://alpha-sports.com/spst/2004%20GS500F/08.gif |
Thanks for now

Im here again
I cant find carb BSR34 which i have in my bike. Can i use pistons and jets from older version - BST33. Saugwurmmensch>Are you sure? I red that mail jet is 120, but it was for BST33 :?: |
120 is for the BST33! But I don't know if, or how this one differs from your BSR34.
BTW: Do you know http://www.gstwin.com? Maybe you can find some help there? |
Ok, thanks. And pistons are same or different?

Be carefull if you want to change to older carbs, there are following main-differences between BSS33 and 34:
1. Mainchannel is 34mm instead of 33mm at the older ones... 2. You will need the throttle position sensor. The 2004-ingnition-system may not work propper without.... 3. Mainjet is #130 for 35KW and #135 fo 25KW (both carbs). 4. Jet Needle ist 5DH57 at 3rd position, Needle-Jet is P5m 5. Of course you need the right pistonvalve (for 25KW or 35KW) 6. You cannot use PVLCS with older carbs (built <1999), so problem of sudden rising of piston valve may occur... I recommend you strongly not to use older parts in engines build after 2004! There are too many differences and it is not easy to adjust and calibrate these parts to get a useable engine behaviour. May be you get a verry poor engine power and drive charakteristics.... It is possible - but only if you exactly know what you are doing....... How you get full power (GS500(F) K4 and above, 35KW): Change only mainjet to #130 and change piston valve (closed hole at the side) at both carbs - thats it. |
AmigaHarry> Thank you for comprehensive information. Maybe i will try do it at home, but i have last question. What should i use to closed holes?
|
the "glue" has to be gasoline-resistant.
I´ve heard from good results with "Pattex Powerknete" (a special modelling clay). You just have to be careful not to close the channel of the jet-needle. Furthermore the surface of the pistons has to be glazed. |
