Hi my name is LUKAS I live near 3city in Poland. I'd like to show you my GS. I bought it in march and tunned a little bit :) That's all for today but I'am going to do a lot more  in the winter. I really like your forum and your bikes, especially tunned ones.

Thanks mate it's a good tip, I didn't think about that because many bikes dont have it, but you may be right. Anyway in the winter I'am going to apply new fork (he is waiting in my room with new mono swingarm) and fender too

How do you want to mount the ducati swing arm into the gs? It is about 4cm to wide for the gs frame

It's mono from Triumph (it's not plug and play this operation wan't be easy :) but it i can handle it)

On polish GS forum they wasn't soo enthusiastic about my bike :( They think that GS is cool only in original, they can't understand why I'am modding it. I've owned few bikes and ride many before, with many more ps too but I want to build my own bike and for my project I choosed GS because of it's advantages. My favoured inspirations I'am always looking in your country :) GERMAN STYLE RULEZ

I sold my oryginal rev and speedo (for about 100 euro) to a gay who crushed a lil bit his GS he gives me his rev (a bit damaged) as a bonus :D I bought a digi for bikes (scaled to 199km/h for about 10 euro) and try it on, but it didn't look nice soo i put digi speedo in pieces and lcd placed in rev that I've easily repaired and made new buttons on the left side of the bar for changing functions (trip, dist, temp, time, etc) of the speedo and connected it by wires. I'am testing it for about 3000 km till now and everything works just perfect.

PS sorry for my english it's not too good i hope you will forgive me, I speak a lil bit german too :)

I like your speedo and the neccessary work sounds not to be very difficult.

Don't worry your English, I think it's almost perfect - anyway, it meets the skills of most of us...
Your German skills will be helpfull too.

Welcome to gs-500.de, have fun!

Edit: I'm looking forward to read more about your planed modifications as well as pics while working on it and, of course, of a hopefully finished custom GS.

same problem with the triumph swing arm ... how do you exactly plan to modifiy it?

a friend of mine has a tirumph swing arm on his bandit ... he cut the swing arm in half, removed the middle part and welded it back together....

May be it isn't very difficult, but it'll need a long time (open and close the rev without destroy it  ).

Sorry, but you didn't understand me :D I know that this swingarm will not fit in the GS frame. I've got some expirience in modding, it is not my first umbau :D but this will be the most dificult. I'am going to modify back of the frame and this shaft with sprocket and it is the only way I can fit it in. Modding the swingarm is useless because I will have 180 tire at the back. I'am starting in winter don't worry I put some photos leater :D .

I hope you will not be angry at me, but I think it is not a good way to fit it in, because if you remove middle part of mono the wheel will not be in center line of the bike. In bandit serial tire is 150 or 160 (i don't remember) it is 20 or 30 mm difference between triumph's 180 in GS this diference is 50 mm and if I want to do it PRO frame needs to be moded to get enaugh space for chain.

Hey nice bike, you're obviously not new to the customising scene!!!
I like the overall look of you bike, even when I don't normally like the "fighter" masks...yours looks like its from the paintball (gotcha) area!!!
your rev-counter is class and the buttons on the grips are tidy work....

your english is good too, by far better than my polish!!!

I am really interested in the outcome of you new project...i like the single swing-arm look...I am about to do a similar project myself...with an NC30 Pro-Arm....and hopefully lots of help from Verdi.

keep us posted on your progress.

:D Yes you got me it's a paintball mask :) It looks quite nice but I'am selling it :( next week to my friend (to his supermoto) he freaked about it  Anyway I need to build something new for wider forks but I've no idea what it's gonna be  maybe somethimg less agresiv and more classic naked this time.

PS I have seen Verdi's bike ........PRO work no doubt about it, with his help you'll get your project to the end :yumyum:
Good luck with it

Is it possible to do this modification in Germany? My Speedo is damaged an i like this mod, thought i could do the same on my bike. But i'm curious if there will be any problems with the TÜV?

Re: GS from POLAND

I recommend strongly to talk to an "Expert" of TUEV/DEKRA bevor you start. If you use an e-signed speedo there won't be big problems, using speedos without e-sign will work most times, too. But ingeneers want to know exeactly what you've done.

The weather is bad and I've started my umbau earlier :yumyum: MONO,USD, and bodywork

MONO first (problems)
-frame need to be modificated
-I need new custom output shaft (about 30mm longer) my freind is going to made it for me
-rear sprocket need to be modded (from almost 9mm to 6mm) triumph one is too wide GS chain is thinner
-the most difficult I'm finding modification of the clutch mechanism I've some ideas but it's goona be the hardest thing in whole project

more pics and details later

Re: GS from POLAND

I also have a question about the speedo...

how do you do the battery change? Do you have to detach the whole thing or do you have the battery at a different place?

And what about the lighting of the speedo? I have the same thing and it has this light function. But this needs lots of battery capacity. How did you solve that?

Btw: great work!!

CZOKO 15.09.2008 15:53:06

Re: GS from POLAND

I've made a new place for battery. I can change it from outside without putting in pieces the rev (I'm gonna show you fotos of it when I take some) You are right original light of this speedo is very uncomftable I've prepared original GS's rev light to do the job.

Re: GS from POLAND

not sure if you have noticed, but someone has stolen a bit of your frame!!!

That would to the untrained eye look extremely drastic, but to the trained eye....how will you close the gap? what erm bike will you use?

Saugwurmmensch 16.10.2008 11:20:25

Re: GS from POLAND

Just the fill of the gaps is not the most difficult part (weld some trapezoid plate on).
But to complete the frame You've got to work utterly meticulous to assurethe whole geometry and rigidity.

And what about the alignment of the chain?
