Oli Filter Cap leaking, broken screw! (English)

Hello Guys,
I am new here just brought a "91 GS500.
Its rides perfect, very smooth. I am a beginning motor rider so this is my first bike.

My name is Joran and i live in Holland (thats why i am speaking in English, Sorry my english is not the best)

My Problem:
I had to change the olifilter but when a closed that cap for the olifilter one of my screws broke. (the left one, the one not on the side of the brake)
Yes i know that a commen problem but is there any way to fix this?

PLEASE HELP i need my bike to get to my work!

Hello,
i hope that there are still a few centimeter of the thread rod left. If so, try to get it out with a gripper or try to tighten a nut and then unscrew the thread rod.

I agree with Fenris.
U have to get out the broken screw. However u can. There is no other way to fix the cab.

You are right, broken screws are a common problem. However, to solve it you have to differentiate between two conditions:

1. The screw bolt looks out of the hole and is long enough:
Try to grab the remaining bolt by using nippers or put two nuts on it and tighten them mutually, unscrew the bolt.

2. If there is no bolt looking out or it's too short:
You'll need a screw extractor set like this one (click me). It's a bit tricky to drill the hole in the bolt which is necessary to use the screw extractors. May be you should ask a mechanic for help.
